Not every noise comes from the ceiling. Sometimes you hear scratching, climbing or squeaking inside a wall, often near the kitchen, the laundry or where a wall meets the roof. In St Lucia, older timber homes and houses with brick veneer both have hollow spaces inside the walls that connect to the roof cavity and the subfloor. Rats, mice and even young possums can travel through them.
A wall cavity check helps find out what is in there and how it is moving. The crew we book listens for activity, checks the roof cavity above the wall and the subfloor below it, and looks for droppings and grease marks around wall plates. Where needed they use a small camera through an existing gap or vent to see inside.
